The photo was taken at 3:55 am Phoenix time, just 10 minutes after my Grandmother, Catherine Noel, passed away.  It was the first time I have ever watched any living being die.  It is the first time I have ever touched a dead body.  She lived for 99 years and 3 1/2 months. She had a full life and we all knew her time would come.  She had prepared all of us for her time to come.  But it still feels empty and hollow inside.

I realize some people might think it is kind of a morbid photo.  I took it mostly for Jonathan and Nicholas.  I wanted them to see that she died peacefully.   When I got home I showed the picture to Jonathan, and he was so glad to see it, it made him feel better to see her in her bed, looking comfortable.
