March 20th

March 20th, 2009

After Marley's incident on my birthday, I decided that it wasn't worth trying to clean off and salvage his collar.  It smells really bad... and I mean really bad.  It has been my experience with pets and children that smells like that never really go away.  I would hate to lose my heated blanket in my bed because of the odor of his collar.

So we sent to the store today (Mounds... it was our first time, we liked it), and picked out a new collar.  And a few toys while we were at it.  Marley loves to play tug of war.  He got a tug for Christmas from Abuela Susan, but he prefers the remains of stuffed animals.  You know, after he has ever so carefully removed the stuffing.  He really loves them at that point and gets very protective, and brings them to me several times a day to play tug of war with me.  At mounds I found two different brands of stuffing free stuffed animals that are long enough for us to tug with .  Jonathan and Marley had a great time tonight playing.  They both were worn out and happy when they were done.  In this picture you can see htem using the canadian goose variety.  The other one is a raccoon.  I think that Marley likes the goose better, it was about 75 cents more expensive.  I have to say that I like the raccoon better because it is kind of silky... but alas, I am not the dog, and so what I think really doesn't matter.

It really was fun to see them playing together so nicely!

Oh and a p.s. for Mark and all other Dave the Dog lovers.  Dave likes the new toys too.  He just doesn't have as much energy as Marley, or as much desire to play.  However, when Marley and Jonathan were playing he did get kind of excited.... you know what I mean... that kind of ended the playing because the dogs started fighting, and Marley ended up hiding under my desk, apparently it is his safe place where he thought that Dave couldn't get him.  What funny dogs.  They get along so well, until Dave gets himself all worked up that is... Marley is not such a fan.  He just doesn't swing that way.
