May 17th

May 17th, 2009

These are our two pet frogs.  The one on the left is "Jonathan's" and the one on the right is "Nicholas's".

The boys like to play in Dion's Egress (not sure I spelled that right, but the hole for the little window that is in Dion's room in the basement), and one day Jonathan found a frog down there.  None of us touched it, but he decided that it would be his pet.  We put the cover back on the egress and there it stayed.

Then I found another one in the garden that I gave to Nicholas, and he put it down there too.

Today we freed the frogs.  They hopped off happily and were quickly camouflaged by the grass.

  1. Actually they are probably toads and can be a problem with other pets. Mom and Dad had them in their yard in Mesa and Buffy used to try to catch them. Dad went out every night and caught any that he could and disposed of them but Buffy finally caught one and died. Not all toads are poison but some are. Frogs live in water.

  2. Yes, yes, they are toads, we tried calling them that, but Frogs stuck... and the dogs did like playing with them, but we made sure that they never caught one, partly because it wouldn't be good for them, and partly because we felt bad for the little guys! We haven't seen any others in our yard, but we will keep an eye out!

  3. Sorry to be so politically correct but like Mark saying that it isn't really a tree house, they really aren't frogs and the boys should learn what they are, not what sticks! God am I an old fart or what?
