July 28th

July 28th, 2009

The class that I was able to switch into was called Make Your Mark: Printmaking.  Today we learned a lot about the lithography process, and got to go in the studio and make our own lithograph.  This is the corner of mine (I can't draw to save my life, and so I will not be showing the whole thing, ever...). First we drew on this clear sheet with grease crayons.  Then we took the sheet into a lab and developed it onto a metal sheet.  Then we got the sheet wet and rolled ink onto it.  The only place the ink stuck was the places where we had put the grease crayon on the clear sheet.  It was a pretty amazing, detailed, long, and difficult process.
