January 18th

January 18th, 2009

Today was Jonathan's "rockstar" Birthday Party. We had a bunch of kids here at our house, and we played beatles rockband, and hit a guitar pinata, and taught the kids how to do the Hodown Throwdown dance from the Hannah Montana movie. It was a blast. Each kid got to take home the candy they got from the pinata, a little goody bag of guitar shaped bubble dispenser, guitar pick necklace, rubber guitar keychain, rockstar stickers... and thier awesome shirts. There were four "bands" each one had a drum, a bass, a guitar and a keyboard. So no two shirts were identical. All day the kids were identified by their band and instrument... thier bags for candy and treats had a sticker that matched their shirt. They each had a name tag sticker that matched their shirt, and each cupcake had a toothpick in it that matched thier shirt. I know I have a problem. I like to plan. It is an illness.

Speaking of plan, it is a good thing that along with a predisposition to overplan came an ability to abandon said plans and jump ship. We had two activities that were "planned" but we were not capable of executing (the beloved spiderweb that my mom did for me every year when I was young, and a scavenger hunt)... and when we realized that we didn't need to have them to fill up the time, we dropped them. Maybe next time we do a party for jonathan he will be old enough for those activites. In the meantime... rock on!
