February 24th

February 24th, 2009

We had a long trip home today, with lots of airplane drama.  First we were seated rows apart on an MD80, and Jonathan had a bit of a meltdown at being separated.  He was pacified by a kind passenger who moved so that he could be just one row in front of us (although I will say, the prospect of him crying for the whole flight was probably was worse than sitting in a middle seat...).  He was still a bit shaken up, but that was taken care of when the flight attendant let him play with the drop down mask from the safety demonstration.

On the next flight, I thought I was home free.  It is just a 20 minute flight from Chicago to Madison and I had purchased some M and M's for each child at the airport, and had told them that they could have them when we reached cruising altitude if they behaved until that point.  On a flight that short you only stay at cruising altitude for a few minutes and then you begin descent.  But, before we were even off the ground Nicholas got a bit antsy, and was looking for something to do (he really hates the tray table up and bags stowed during take off situation), and decided that he would play with his penis.  So he pulled his pants down to his knees and went to town.  I explained quickly that we did not do that and pulled his pants up, to which he responded, "Mooom, I playin with my penis.  Stop."  Oh, I should mention that he was sitting on the aisle when this happened, so it definitley qualifies as a public display!
