This is what my feet look like after a long day of yard work. Maybe it was a bad idea to do it all with flip flops on? These are my favorite shoes, they are flip flops with arch support. I love them.
So, I got dressed this morning for doctors appointments... and didn't think I would get to do yard work because it was threatening to rain. But, I stopped at the nursery to pick up some plants, peat moss, etc, anyway. Then I went to the county compost pile to pick up a few garbage bins of compost... that was when I realized that flip flops were not the shoe of choice...
Then when I got home I figured that my shoes were a mess anyway, no point changing them and getting a new pair dirty right? So I mowed the lawn, and cleaned up the edges... and then I sprayed the weeds, and mixed up the compost, vermiculite and peat moss for the garden. Then I took this picture.
It took me like 20 minutes soaking and scrubbing in the tub to get them clean! Good thing those shoes can go in the washing machine! Wish I could have put my feet in there!
P.S. To those of you who may have assumed that I had finished putting the garden together a long time ago... it has been pretty cold here, and so I have been putting it off. I have a friend who put all of her plants in AFTER MEMORIAL DAY and then they all died three days later in a frost! So I have been stalling. I hope to get them all in this weekend, so that they can sprout during our trip under Dion's watchful care, and then the boys and I can work with them when we get back!
It's called LATITUDE ATTITUDE. I have refused to put the plow back on the truck after taking it off Labor Day weekend, but since then we have had more than a foot of snow. Thankfully no more than a few inches at a time. It is still below freezing at night.
