I have a bunch of pictures of all of the fun things we did today. We saw lots of cool dinosaur stuff, we even saw a field station where they work with real dinosaur bones and make casts for museums and stuff. It was awesome.
But the picture that I am choosing and the story that will define this day forever is the part where we got stuck in the mud. The GPS told us to turn. I knew that the "route" went past baker, but the GPS and the map both agreed that another road went through, and it appeared to be paved, so we thought we would try it. At some point the pavement ended, but the road was really well maintained so we decided to keep going. We were driving along and Dion said that earlier today he read a thing at a museum about how the dirt roads can be dangerous in this area because they get muddy and people get stuck. Right after he said it we came over a hill and the road maintenance ended, and we sunk right into the mud.
In this picture you can see how far I pushed the car trying to get it out of the mud and back onto a road that had been maintained. Eventually it got completely stuck and either I couldn't get it out or was too tired to get it out, and so we walked a mile or two to a farm house where an old couple lived. They called a friend for us who pulled us out, and gave us directions to get where we were going that would stay on maintained roads. Apparently when the maintenance stopped we had just crossed a county line, and one county maintains thier roads (there is oil digging in that county) and the other county doesn't (no oil, no money for roads).
Just in case you were wondering, and you can't tell from the picture, the part that I pushed was all uphill... we did fine driving downhill...
