Today we FINALLY made a gingerbread house. After the failed attempt last week that resulted in a big mess of gingerbread crumbs on the floor, I finally got it together enought to cook a house, and we decorated it. We had a small problem with the candy. It appears that little rodents had been in our kitchen snacking on the candies. The good news is that we used up all of the candy on the house except the full size candy canes. The bad news is that we ran out of some of the candies before we would have liked to in construciton.

The lesson here is that if you get everything out and in dishes and ready to go, you either need to package it back up and put it away or actually make the houses. You can't wait a week with the candy sitting out on the counter in the corner of the kitchen. It attracts little boy mice!
